1988 Tamnavulin, AD Rattray 28 yo 49.9%

Ballindalloch, Knockandhu, Aberlour, Craigellachie - Tamnavulin sits astride the River Livet near a cluster of places whose names are entirely redolent of Speyside. The distillery was founded in 1965 in response to the growing demand among blenders for malt whisky, but fairly quickly acquired an identity of its own through a series of independent bottlings. Distilled in 1988, the spirit that has gone into this bottling has all the complex, fine patina of age. Camphor and spice, particularly clove. A meditation malt. (NT 08/08/16)
