Chalonnais and Maconnais
don't actually live together in perfect harmony, as Stevie Wonder so nearly sang. The Maconnais is nearly all Chardonnay, ranging from the bulkiest of bulk wine through to the richest of low yield wonderment. The Chalonnaise is the under-explored source of much (relatively) bargain burg. Reds and whites from a range of the quality villages, along with Burgundy's other white grape.
