We have a multi-thematic evening for you. Our first two flights examine two grape varieties while also sending us on a tour of some of the Cape's finest areas while we enjoy Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. With the third and fourth flights we have a close look at Swartland and the styles of two of the country's best surfers and most sought after winegrowers. So there is plenty of variety and amazing quality.

Let's highlight just four of the featured producers. Hamilton Russell has stood out as both a determined independent producer for decades and even during the apartheid years gained a reputation as an ethical and humane employer whose quality shines through both in the wines and treatment of staff. They have been a huge influence on the current generation of pioneers. At Lismore Estate, Samantha O'Keefe came from California to start a wine entreprise that stands out in style and quality from anyone in the Cape. She is a true pioneer - her nearest winegrowing neighbour is over two hours drive away. Her wines have a finesse and energy rare in South Africa.

Over in Swartland we have contenders for the country's top winemaker award. Eben Sadie has long been a hero of mine and his championing of South Africa's vinous history in varietal form has added immensely to our understanding of the country as wine producer. Also in Swartland Chris and Andrea Mullineux have established themselves as committed terroirists and inspiring drinkers and peers alike. 

It's going to be an exciting evening.
