Sake soirée: free tasting this evening

Thursday, 20 September 2018 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm

Sake: Japan's most polished achievement?

You're cordially invited to the shop this evening to taste three of our sakes with Masayo Nuttall. We're showing Seitoku: one of the first we ever bought - an easy one as it reminded us of Chablis. Then one of our more recent purchases - again easy: with its cherry notes and lovely texture Sohomare Tokubetsu Kimoto junmai has a hint of Pinot Noir. Finally we have our newest acquisition: Masumi Hiyaoroshi ginjo. This seasonal sake is perfect for the colder months with its slightly spicy character.

Our Uncorked Sake tasting today is a precursor to The Joy of Sake event taking place in the Barbican on the 28th September. That is the biggest sake event outside Japan; ours is a little more modest. So come and see what all the sake fuss is about. You can see the result of polishing rice and also taste the terroirs. We can advise on foods to match with it and how to drink it. All in all, see this as a mini sake school. You can also honour your ancestors with a toast on Shunbun no Hi. /CW

Offered subject to remaining unsold; available immediately.
