Paris, 1976: maverick English caviste Steven Spurrier decides that the French aren't taking American wine sufficiently seriously.  He arranges for a blind tasting, pitting US Chardonnays and Cabernets against Grand Cru white Burgundy and First Growth Bordeaux, with judges including the top wine critics in France. The result of the 'Judgement of Paris' stuns the wine world, as the Californian wines trounce the French in every category. Tantrums are thrown, accusations of cheating follow. France is well and truly shocked out of complacency: the Americans are coming to eat their lunch.

In the decades since, the US's wine reputation has become about so much more than big Chardonnays and Cabernets. It's time to put the modern scene to the test. We'll be sampling the finest Syrahs, Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays and Cabernets from both countries to determine an ultimate winner, including some truly iconic wines - and of course, we'll be doing it blind per flight! Come and take part in a very special evening.

This tasting is now sold out! If you'd like to be added to the waiting list, click here to get in touch, email drink@uncorked.co.uk, or call us at 020 7638 5998.
