Introducing Bordeaux Part II: The Right Bank & Whites Sold Out

Thursday, 28 November 2019 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Session 2: Right Bank & Whites

In part two of this short course, Colin will talk you through Pomerol and St-Emilion among others, as well as some white wines from Pessac and Sauternes. White Bordeaux is perennially unfashionable despite being of great quality and arguably at least as ageworthy and complex as Burgundy. Whereas last week found us largely in Cabernet country, this week is Merlot dominated. If Cabernet is all about the tannins, Merlot is all supple generosity. (I'm struggling to stay out of seventies-based metaphor here, but we've included a Sauternes too so I'm bound to be talking rot at some stage.)

We will be tasting the following:

2015 Malartic-Lagraviere Blanc (Pessac)
1999 Bellegrave (Pomerol)
2014 Biac (Cadillac Cotes de Bordeaux)
2015 Clos Puy Arnaud (Castillon)
2016 Pavie-Macquin (St-Emilion)
2010 Rieussec (Sauternes)
