Charles Metcalfe shows you around Portugal
What better way to celebrate the anniversary of our last visit from Charles Metcalfe than to invite him back, almost a year to the day after his last visit. As ever Charles impressed us and you with his learning - lightly worn, his views on the progress of Portuguese wine and the wines he showed. If you missed last year, or if you would like more of the experience then this is your chance. Charles is a natural performer and his unforced style as enjoyable as his subject. Wines will be open from midday and you will have the chance to chat to Charles until about 2.30, after which you'll have to put up with me. You have been warned.
Portugal continues to excite. Formidable though the country's woes are, the wine industry had done so much good work before the crisis, and the winemakers are so enthusiastic and committed to their work that if anything motivation and quality have risen and value increased. As ever, we urge you to come and try a selection of these wines for yourself. /CW
