Free Friday Roederer tasting

At our Bishopsgate shop from noon

1776 was an important year in world history and one of the more significant events was the founding of Dubois Pere & Fils which, some fifty years later was inherited by one Louis Roederer, who immediately named it after himself. Roederer have always been players in the export market and found a particularly ready market in Russia, where the Czar (not a New Labour one) enjoyed the then sweet wines and commissioned a version for himself, packaged in a revolutionary poison detection bottle - the wine was Cristal. An equally revolutionary government inherited the stocks shortly thereafter and refused to pay the bill for it.

Roederer is a family firm involved entirely in wine rather than handbags. Mark Bingley MW has been working for the family's UK office for many years and his career is an integral part of Roederer's quality and their story. We are very lucky to have him on hand today to pour and discuss Roederer's exemplary range of fine Champagne and we hope you can pop in for a taste of this renowned house's wines.

Additionally, if you haven’t yet been introduced to our new man David, then what better way than over a bubble or two? We’ve recently rescued him from a back street garage multiple and are introducing him to the wonderful world of artisanal wine. /CW
