Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc - the Loire is an incredibly diverse region, but these are the most emblematic grape varities grown in the various appellations which line the river. And, as with most French regions, they have inspired a great many compatriots around the world. We will taste a few of these, and see if they stack up against the best the Loire can provide.
This tasting is the fourth in our France vs. the World series, in which the wine regions of France take on their counterparts other parts of the world. Each flight will be presented blind, to reduce the effects of favouritism. Join us to see if the wines of the Loire Valley can stand up to some of the best the rest of the world has to offer...
As an extra-special treat, this tasting will include a flight of sweet wines - and the representative for sweet Chenin Blanc from the new world will be the mythical Mullineux Olerasay no 1, the first ever release of their solera-aged straw wine: '...
