The Galician DO Ribeiro is defined around the rivers Mino and Arnoia, and these two rivers meet at the town of A Arnoia, inland from Vigo. Mauro Estevez is a small, third-generation winery based in A Arnoia, and managed by father and son Jose and Mauro. Their two hectares of vineyards are small parcels in a variety of aspects on the slopes of the two river valleys that meet at the town, on a mixture of granite and clay soils. Jose and Mauro cultivate the local varieties Treixadura, Loureira, Godello, Albariño and Lado, and all of these go into their flagship bottling Mauro Estevez. It is a benchmark Ribeiro. (NT 18/06/25)
