Hambledon

Major General Sir Guy Salisbury Jones is often refered to as the Father of English Sparkling Wine, and Hambledon as Englands oldest commercial vineyard. Their vineyard was planted in 1952, and with helpful advice from their good friends at Pol Roger; they planted a number of varieties on their chalky soil, which is reminisent of that in the Cotes des Blancs in champagne. Head winemaker Herve Jestin and winemaker Felix Gabillet are blessed with a state of the art winery that allows them to craft wines using minimal intervention which express their top quality terroir. Their Classic Cuvee really sets a high benchmark for English fizz, and has been praised by MW`s and critics for it`s quality. (DS 19/04/22)
