Jerome Coursodon is the fifth generation at this historically important St-Joseph domaine. He only makes St-Joseph, from 16 hectares of hillside vines above his hometown of Mauves. Very much a local specialist, Jerome has a deeply impressive awareness of the nuances of St-Joseph terroir. The style of his wines tends to be bold, ripe and sometimes glossy. Reds are destemmed. His whites also tend to have a more rich, concentrated character. His Silice Blanc and Rouge cuvees are named for the high silica content in the soil in those parcels. L’Olivaie (‘olive tree’) comes from 90-year-old vines planted on the most granitic soils. (NT 04/10/23)
