Chateau Moulin St-Georges

0

Just down the hill from Ausone, a stone’s throw from the entrance to St-Emilion, is another gem which is, like Ausone, in the hands of the Vauthier family. The Vauthiers bought Moulin St-Georges in 1921, and are now into their fifth generation here. It lies on slightly flatter, cooler terroir than Ausone, mostly a high-quality mix of clay and limestone. The vineyard is planted to a mix of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. This history of this vineyard is as old as Ausone, going right back to the Roman era. The name evokes a mill that once stood where the cellar now is. It ages beautifully. (NT 11/08/23)
