Borgolucce

The rolling hills of Conegliano Valdobiaddene are the heartland, the Classico if you will of Prosecco production. But it isn`t just a monoculture. there are south-facing vineyards interspersed with forests on the northern slopes and meadows and fields in between. Together with the best of integrated pest management systems and no systemic use of herbicides or pesticides the beuaty and care taken over the region has resulted in it`s becoming a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Collalto family can trace their history in this region for over 1000 years - aristocrats who have provided monks and warriors, politicians and diplomats to the powers of the province and the nation. Now they combine winemaking with tourism on their estate, all set in a natural environment. The Lampo prosecco is entirely from Glera and the Charmat method with hillside viticulture and careful winemaking and comes from the Treviso part of Veneto. It`s a dry and intensely flavoured example. (CW 17/09/19)
