Bordeaux that outperforms its price point

Of the wines served at my wedding this year, the best feedback was for two fairly minor 2004 Bordeaux. It reminded me - not that I need it - just what great value these oft-overlooked wines are, and what pleasure they can give. Even as a Burgundy nut, I get a huge amount of enjoyment out of mature claret and - in a vintage like 2016 - these wines are going to make you very happy over the next 10 to 15 years.

Below are my ten picks for quality, ageability and value. And you can see all our remaining 2016 Bordeaux here.

Let me remind you of the wisdom of Neal Martin in these matters: 'Freshness of the dry reds suggest that they will be more approachable than its 'big brother', the 2010s, and yet their substance, freshness and structure gives grounds for longevity. You will love these wines.' /CW
