At last there's a rush of activity before Bordeaux goes to Hong Kong for next week's Vinexpo. Frederic Casteja told me that his family will release Batailley tomorrow or Friday so that we have plenty of opportunity to sell next week during the lull. I said it would sell well at 24€ but didn't catch his reply as he was choking on his glass of Hauts de Lynch Moussas.

LaTour-Martillac is everything that's right about Bordeaux. You don't get a brass band and a march past at this humble property. But year in, year out the Kressman family - with the help of consultant Denis Dubourdieu - produces a classic, high quality Pessac-Leognan which gets my vote as the best value classed growth in the Graves. They price it to sell en primeur and that's precisely what it does. Last month's was our fourth annual visit to the property and their 2015s the best wines we've tasted here. They have high scores from eRobertParker's new Bordeaux chief and shouldn't be missed.

Other notable releases are the increasingly refined and still reasonably priced Lafon-Rochet, the ever dependable Sociando-Mallet, Cheval Blanc's much improved Quinault L'Enclos, (Ausone) Alain Vauthier's inexpensive Fonbel, and the debonair Comte Stephan von Neipperg's d'Aiguilhe and Clos de l'Oratoire. /AR
