N.V. Equipo Navazos I Think Manzanilla
Secondary Description
En Rama 2023 bottling
The name is a tribute to Darwin (his tree of life sketch appears on the label) and Descartes (I think, therefore I am); the Equipo Navazos team are an intellectual crowd. The I Think Manzanilla is almost unfiltered, and is as complex and pungent as Manzanilla can get. Think fennel, chamomile, sliced green apple, salt and vinegar crisps, crushed peanuts. In Spain you would sip this while nibbling on almonds, green olives, grilled prawns, though I can`t help but think that in its heart it secretly yearns for a platter of sushi. Take a sip, close your eyes, and imagine the Atlantic breakers rolling in. (NT 18/09/23)

A very rich roasted hazelnut character makes this hard to resist. Lovely caramel crispness, lemon rind and peach, quite complex. There is a leesy, sea saltiness to it: vanilla, dried banana skin, tangy, smoky and such umami length – whoa! 94 points

A very welcome addition to the I Think range: half bottles, screwcapped, portable. This is delightfully drinkable. If you thought amontillado was a bit middle-aged, think again and snap this up. Follow the tasting notes: perfect with oysters, soft cheese and shepherd`s pie. 93 points
