Media Reviews

William Kelley

Supple and charming, the 2021 Fonroque is a medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping wine redolent of cherries, blackberries, rose petals and licorice. Fleshy and charming, it`s attractively layered, with supple tannins and a persistent finish. 91-93 points

Neal Martin

The 2021 Fonroque offers ripe wild cherries, cassis and violets on the nose, which is quite opulent considering the vintage, though it needs a little more delineation. The palate is ripe and slightly saccharine on the entry. There is definitely some CO2 here. Moderate depth, but it needs more grip on the finish. I have had better vintages in recent years. 86-88 points

Antonio Galloni

The 2021 Fonroque is deep, fleshy and super-expressive. Dark fruit, mocha, spice, licorice and leather are dialed up in this succulent, yet mid-weight Saint-Émilion. All the elements are very nicely balanced throughout. 90-92 points

Jane Anson

Vibrant raspberry leaf and peony aromatics, austere white pepper notes. This is higher Cabernet Franc than in a typical vintage and the austerity makes it a little drying on the finish, needs to settle in a little more over ageing. Certified biodynamic. 90 points
