2021 Carbonnieux Blanc (Pessac-Leognan)

65% Sauvignon Blanc/35% Semillon. Nice balance between the Sauvignon/Semillon character, this is not as obviously Sauvgnon-driven as some Bordeaux Blancs. Luscious mid-palate lemon richness, crisp and zesty finish. (NT 24/05/22)

Antonio Galloni

The 2021 Carbonnieux Blanc is bright and nicely focused, but also lacking both body and overall complexity to be hugely interesting. Drink this crisp dry white over the next few years, maximum. 88-90 points

Jane Anson

Bright and perky, white flowers, citrus, lime zest, fresh acidities but exuberant and with plenty of momentum. Tasted twice. 92 points

William Kelley

Notions of citrus zest, fresh mint, peach, pastry cream and Sauvignon botanicals introduce the 2021 Carbonnieux Blanc, a medium-bodied, satiny wine that`s ample and precise. It`s an attractive example of the modern school of white Bordeaux, even if anyone who has tasted older vintages from the 1960s or 1970s—when the wines were less Sauvignon-driven and aromatic but more textural and sapid—will inevitably be disappointed. 90-91 points

Neal Martin

The 2021 Carbonnieux Blanc has a relatively spicy bouquet, very slight touches of muscat filtering through the citric fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a spicy entry and good weight. Persistent in the mouth, leaving behind a long, saline aftertaste. This is another excellent dry white Bordeaux. 92-94 points
