Azores
Lovely citrus-intensity to the aromas - quince and warm flint, zesty and inviting. The palate carries similar lemon, ripe quince and pear characters, with a pleasant weight which lingers deliciously on the finish. Textural, very fine. Deceptively delicious in its youth, but this will age very well over the next decade or so. From old vineyards (around 100 years) planted in lava soil a mere 250 meters from the ocean. The 2020 Arinto dos Acores was aged for six months in used French oak. It comes in dry (less than a gram of residual sugar, plus 6.8 of total acidity) and at 12.7% alcohol. Vigorous and precise, this seems tightly wound despite the elegance and beautiful balance. It`s hard to notice the oak. This can age a reasonable time. In fact, it needs some. This is only the fourth edition of this bottling, though, even though the co-op has been around for decades. Let`s start here and take the aging curve in stages. It may do a lot better. It is always going to need a food pairing. There were 6,299 bottles produced. 92 points
