2020 Clos Rene (Pomerol)

Media Reviews

Jane Anson

They love to deliver classically-styled wines from this estate, and this is very clearly a tannic-heavy, big shouldered old school Pomerol with real heart and charm. Expect plenty of blackberry, black cherry and smoked earth, edging towards austere, should be ready to go in three or four years. 91 points

Neal Martin

The 2020 Clos Rene offers exquisite purity on the nose, very well defined with raspberry and wild strawberry scents, an underlying mineralite that emerges with aeration. The oak is very well integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, maybe slightly coarse tannins. Fresh with a touch of Valrona chocolate, there is a bit of muscle on the finish, good length, a Pomerol that will repay several years` cellaring. 92 points

Antonio Galloni

The 2020 Clos René has developed into a powerful, structured wine, much moreso than it was from barrel. Dark cherry, plum, chocolate, leather and licorice are all amplified. This potent, deep Pomerol needs time to soften, that is for sure. There is a lot of wine here. 94 points
