From 56-year-old vines and bottled in February 2021, the 2019 Clos Saint Urbain Rangen de Thann Pinot Gris opens with an excitingly deep, pure and elegant yet also intense and flinty bouquet of crushed stones and perfectly ripe and juicy stone fruits spiced with cold ash and just-ripe mango aromas. Elegant and vital on the palate, this full-bodied Pinot Gris from the steep Rangen is very intense yet also very mineral and thus never heavy not to mention mighty or powerful. This 2019 is built on elegance, finesse and the talents of the terroir, which gives an always vital, stimulating saline and intense finish. This is an extraordinary Pinot Gris with stimulating salts and minerals and lovely lush and ripe mango and passion fruit aromas. This is the finest Pinot Gris I have tasted from the Clos-St-Urbain so far. 13.9% alcohol with 6.2 grams per liter of residual sugar. Natural cork. 95+ points
