2018 Paul Jacqueson Rully Rouge Les Cloux

East facing, just above the village, Cloux is a premier cru site other producers use for white wine, but Jacqueson make a fine red here. Planted in 1967. The soil is thin here. Quite intense, dark aromatics, more black fruit than red, spicy, with a touch of new wood. Very fine – could really benefit from a year or two to come round. (NT 09/01/20)
