Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley (13.1%) The Family Vineyards bottling is a cuvée of three vineyards, two of them north-facing and one south. Fermented with full malolactic in 2018 because of high natural malic acid levels, this is youthful, weighty and complex, with assertive oak and a fine, chiselled, refreshing finish. 94 points

The 2018 Family Vineyard Chardonnay is aged for 11 months in barrel. It has a crisp, chalky bouquet of orange blossom, white peach and hints of canned pineapple. The taut, precise palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and an understated, edgy, mineral-driven finish. Excellent. 92 points
