The 2018 Saint-Aubin Derrières Chez Edouard 1er Cru Rouge was waiting to be racked when tasted from barrel. It has a perfumed, floral bouquet with pressed violets infusing the red and blueberry fruit. The palate is sweet and succulent on the entry. Fine, chalky tannins and compact sweet black cherry fruit define the structured finish. Very fine. 89-91 points

The 2018 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard Rouge is showing beautifully, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cassis, wild berries, bergamot and rose petals. On the plate, it`s medium to full-bodied, precise and mineral, with excellent concentration and a finer-boned profile than Lamy`s heartier reds from Santenay and Chassagne-Montrachet. 91-93 points

Just racked and retuned to older wood, and sulphured. Jet black with purple edge. Super-concentrated inky fruit. This is completely mouth-filling and obviously relatively high octane (heading towards 14.5%) but tastes in balance. 86-89 points
