A small cuvée of just two 450litre barrels using grapes from Les Petits Monts (two-thirds) and Les Chaumes. A paler pink purple colour with a wonderfully elegant nose. Very pretty sandalwood style oak, which marks the wine gently in its youth, but the floral nature of the fruit is exquisite. One or two wood tannins behind. This should however integrate. 92-95 points

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru comes two-thirds from Petits-Monts and one-third Les Chaumes and includes 30% whole bunch, matured in two 450-liter barrels. The powerful bouquet is quite floral in style, and Chinese five-spice and blood orange infuse the dense red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth-textured, creamy opening. Touches of vanilla and cassis dovetail into black currant and black pepper toward the grippy finish. This should be afforded several years in bottle, but it shows good potential. 91-93 points
