No whole bunch here – Gilbert is still experimenting to find what work’s best. Deep purple almost black at the centre. Very inky style of fruit, for my palate I prefer it when the whole bunch lightens the wine up more. Hugely concentrated stuff, very ripe but not cooked with just enough acidity. 90-93 points

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru includes no whole-bunch fruit this year and is matured in 100% new oak. It seems to handle the new wood well, offering scents of black cherries, boysenberry and a touch of pain d’épices. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red and black fruit and a fine bead of acidity. Quite vibrant, especially toward the finish. The long aftertaste is very satisfying. Superb. Four barrels produced. 93-95 points

Vanilla and rose petals, flint and cranberry. Young though this is, it is fast developing elegance and fluidity. Lovely. 17.5 points
