Slightly lighter purple colour, a little bit funky here, sweet not quite cooked strawberry fruit here, juicy and stays balanced. 86-88 points

The 2018 Fils et Père Gevrey was a bit reduced and not particularly expressive aromatically, but surprisingly, was far easier to appreciate on the palate. The nose offers up a mélange of sweet black fruit, dark chocolate, a good base of soil and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is ripe, full-bodied and nicely succulent at the core, with good soil signature, modest tannins and a long, promising finish. This should prove to be quite good, though it is close to fourteen percent octane and seems likely to be quite plush in personality when it is ready to drink. Drink 2024-2045. 88-89+ points

Firm reduction dominates the fruit today. Somewhat curiously the middle weight flavors possess a finer mid-palate mouthfeel that also contrasts with the firm, serious and rustic finale that is somewhat short and awkward. This may well harmonize with a few years of bottle age but today it`s edgy. 87-89 points

Mainly from Croix des Champs (east of the D974) not from the Brochon side, which tends to give more powerful and tannic wines. Fruit from an organic grower in this instance – but not the case for all the négoce wines. Needs another racking says Jeremy Seysses. Tank sample. Sweet and smoky reduction. Deep, rich fruit, generous. 14% but the alcohol is not obvious. 16.5 points
