Dark purple-red hue and a warm, inviting deep berry aroma. This has good body and structure with fine-grained, mouth-coating tannins. The blackberry and cherry fruit gives way to earthy, sweet liquorice, garrigue herbs and a subtle note of bitter orange rind on the finish. Delicious alone or with heavier, autumnal dishes like shepherd’s pie or a vegetable gratin. (RRS 08/10/20)

Don`t overlook Paris`s outstanding 2017 Saint Joseph Les Cotes. It combines blueberries, espresso and pepper in a medium to full-bodied format that`s supported by silky, fine-grained tannins and plenty of length. Like previous vintages, it`s approachable young, but it should have the stuffing to age up to a decade. 92-94 points
