A superlative example of Loire Cabernet Franc, perfect for fans of this varietal with its complex aromatics, soft tannic structure and (particularly in examples from the Loire Valley) fresh, drinkable character. Red fruit aromas, with a hint of bramble and a touch of blackcurrant leaf, carry through onto a soft, savoury palate. Liquorice adds complexity, and rose petal lingers on the finish. Best with light, savoury dishes, this is a wonderfully enjoyable wine. (JH 18/08/2021)

The 2018 Rouilleres hails from the sandy gravels of Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil, yielding a light-bodied, crunchy style that has fresh red currant and black currant fruit as well as pencil lead aromas. While this is a ripe vintage, it remains bright and fresh with gentle, fine tannins. A raspberry fragrance provides a scented, lengthy finish. 89 points
