Joe Czerwinski

Slightly more concentrated than the 2015, the 2016 Telegramme Chateauneuf du Pape is a medium to full-bodied yet supple, berry-scented wine. It should drink well for a decade. 89-91 points

Josh Raynolds

Vivid ruby. Spice-accented red berries and cherry on the nose, along with suggestions of garrigue and smoky minerals. Juicy red fruit and floral flavors show very good focus and become deeper and sweeter with air. The floral note returns on the clinging, energetic finish, which is shaped by smooth tannins. 90-92 points

(large barrel) dark red. There is a good mix of black and red berries on the nose, inner sweetness, an attractive coulis style in the persistent fruit. There are notes of licorice. It’s rich, its abundance rare for this wine. The palate presents dried herbs, dusty trails with cosy richness, which is nicely thick. It courses along well. Dark fruits, blackberries, some black chocolate feature in a good swirl, with late chalk from the tannins, their powder well present, black olives on the close. It is a good, interesting garrigue wine of heart. It will be raised four to five months longer than usual, with a racking in between. Tannins play a good role in adding density. From 2021. 4*

Richard Hemming

Gorgeously ripe red fruit with cranberry and redcurrant flavours. Lightly spiced, superbly balanced structure with tannin and acid counterbalancing nicely. Finishes with a firm, ageable grip and lovely long savoury persistence. 17+ points
