2015 Tentenublo Rioja

The name and label of the Tentenublo reference the ringing of church bells once superstitously used in Spanish villages to drive off hailstorms...it`s a trick the Burgundians could do with learning. Based at Vinaspre in Rioja Alavesa, Roberto Olivan is one of the region’s most exciting new producers. He works family vineyards, and is adding to them with new discoveries on the local slopes. Luscious dark fruit, a punchy fresh finish and an edge of sour plum make for a serious and expressive bottle of wine. (NT 28/09/17)
