Pale, green-tinged yellow. Musky ripe stone fruits show a pineappley ripeness but also superb vivacity. Fat, sweet and oily on the palate; a very sensual wine with a slight suggestion of surmaturité but with enough acidity to energize the middle palate and carry the finish. This very deep, layered wine is a bit closed today but looks to be a major success. 92-94 points

A wonderfully broad-ranging nose offers up notes of both white and yellow fruit, iodine, brine and a hint of smoky mineral reduction. There is fine volume to the solidly dense and powerful medium-bodied flavors that coat the mouth with dry extract as well as deliver a strikingly persistent finish that brims with minerality. This is presently a bit austere but that is unlikely to last. 92-94 points

Based in the upper part of Grenouille, away from the road, this 0.5h parcel was planted in 1947 and 1964. Smoky, toasty and powerful, the wine shows its 50% oak, but has enough depth to digest it in bottle. The finish is taut and understated, with classic minerality. Drink 2017-24. 95 points
