Starting in the 1950s, Giuseppe Inama began buying up small vineyard plots on Mount Foscarino, at a time when many more Italians were fleeing the countryside to work in the cities. He progressed from assistant oenologist to selling his own grapes to cooperatives to building his own cellars and founding Inama. Foscarini is at the heart of the area where Soave has traditionally been made, and is Inama`s idea of what the best traditional Soave has been and should be. Dry, elegant, floral (think chamomile, elderflower), it has a distinctive almondy finish. (NT 28/04/16)
