2014 Chateau La Noe Muscadet Sevre et Maine

Sur lie
Made from the relatively neutral Melon de Bourgogne variety at the west of the Loire Valley (almost at the maritimie mouth of the river), Muscadet is a style of wine whose freshness, acidity and light flavour make it an ideal foil to seafood and shellfish. For my money, few food and wine combinations beat a steaming bowl of mussels set against a lightly chilled Muscadet. Like all the best Muscadet, the Chateau La Noe overwinters sur lie before bottled for that extra bit of depth . A remarkable and easily overlooked style of wine, it is also as cheap as chips, so what are you waiting for? (NT 25/10/16)
