2013 Bernard Moreau Chassagne-Montrachet

Secondary Description
A tank sample that had been fined and won`t be filtered. Over a third of this comes from Mazures, this is the wine`s spine, the balance comes from the Puligny border for floral and mineral character. The 2013 Bernard Moreau Chassagne-Montrachet has a lovely balance. It`s pure and the flavours are on the green citrus style of things. There`s freshness, and body, but the overall impression is of perfect balance. (CW 03/11/14)

The 2013 Chassagne Montrachet had been fined the previous week and was just about to be bottled. Raised in 20-25% new oak, this, the largest cuvee of the domaine at 30% of production, undergoes a longer barrel aging than the Saint Aubin En Remilly. It has a delightful bouquet. clean and pure with apricot and light fig scents infusing the citrus fruit. The palate offers commendable weight in the mouth, and as usual, the acidity here is very finely judged and lends the finish impressive tension. It might not have the complexity of Moreau`s impressive premier cru, however, there is style and panache about this Chassagne Village, which comes highly recommended. 91 points
