2013 Bernard Moreau Chassagne Maltroie

Secondary Description
From just opposite the cellar door, and where they park the tractor, Bernard Moreau`s Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie is softer and richer than Chenevottes with both more mandarine fruit and a stonier wine too. It is quite full bodied and shares with its siblings a texture that is so fine I haven`t noted it up until now. That`s subtlety for you. (CW 03/11/14)

From three parcels aged 24-, 39- and 50+-years-old, the 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru la Maltroie has an expressive and effervescent floral bouquet. citrus fruit, yellow flowers, Clementine and a hint of almond. The palate is crisp on the entry with superb acidity that slices through the intense marmalade-tinged fruit. This has real swagger and wonderful mineral tones toward the finish that fans out. You will be hard pressed to find a Chassagne-Montrachet premier cru better than this in 2013. Chapeau! 92-94 points
