The 2012 Agiorgitiko is a solidly built red for the non-reserve bottling, seeming sturdy, aromatic and balanced, with fine fruit on the finish. With the extra year of age over the 2013 (the current release reviewed this issue), this lacks that wine`s exuberance and fresh personality, but it has settled in well. With moderate tannins, this is quite nice now, but it should hold well for several years. 88 points

A powerful vintage, apparently. Definite peppery, rocky quality to the fresh, dark-red fruit. Firm and dry and with the most perfect harmony of fruit and structure, though owner and winemaker Yiannis Paraskevopoulos says it is more structured than in most years. Dry finesse on the finish and great length. Elegant and winning at the same time, with serious potential as well as pleasure now. 16.5+ points
