2011 Rocher-Bonregard (Pomerol)

This small Pomerol property is still managed (though no longer owned) by descendents of the founder, one Monsieur Rocher, who laid out the property and began winemaking here in 1880. The blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, so pretty classic for the region. Tastewise, it`s fairly fruit driven, but with a touch of musk and wood. Pomerol, of course, is generally not cheap, so this is the epitome of Right Bank Affordeaux. (NT 12/02/16)
