Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi is an extremely modest man steeped in tradition and willing to change whatever doesn`t work - even to the extent of replacing a vine variety in favour of another more successful one. He is moving towards more and more local and authentic styles of wine, while keeping his own sense of style. The Chianti Classico is packed full of juicy, intense Sangiovese leavened with a dash of Pugnitello and a lick of polish and sophistication. Bloomin` marvellous. (CW 20/11/14)

The 2011 Chianti Classico is easily one of the wines of the vintage. A dark, juicy Chianti, the 2011 explodes in all directions with generous, totally inviting fruit. The style is big, rich and voluptuous, but all the elements are in the right place. Readers who find the style of the vintage too exuberant will want to cellar the 2011 for a few years, or, even better, head straight for the 2010. (2010 now out of stock - Ed) 92 points
Proprietor Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi has done a marvelous job with these new releases. `Pedigree` is what comes to mind when I think of the Rocca di Montegrossi wines. Readers who aren`t yet familiar with this small, family-run estate are missing out some of the most dynamic, delicious wines being made in Italy today.
