The 2011 IGP Cotes Catalanes Le Soula is a Carignan-dominated blend that included 35% Syrah and 5% Grenache. Despite the blend, it reminds me of a classy northern Rhone Syrah with its gamy, bacon fat, pepper, dried herbs and sweet black raspberry-driven bouquet. Medium-bodied, balanced, with good acidity and fine tannin, it will keep nicely through 2023. This is a terrific domaine that’s located in the Agly Valley, in the northern part of the Roussillon, around the village of Tautavel. 90 points
