2010 Rocca di Montegrossi Chianti Classico

Matured in large and mostly old French oak barrels, but only for a year, Montegrossi’s Chianti is all about texture and fruit rather than wood. The short barrel aging helps to integrate the tannins and make them silky, but doesn’t impinge on the bright cherry fruit and subtle herb notes. Delicious wine and a vivid accompaniment to grilled autumn vegetables. (CW 09/10/12)
