2010 Cape Chamonix Rouge (Franschhoek)

Despite Chamonix winemaker Gottfried not thinking that Bordeaux varieties work especially well in Franschhoek, they manage to produce a couple of excellent wines from them. This has to be one of the best value wines in the shop, despite being one of the cheapest. A good, medium-bodied red, with plenty of fruit and peppery flavours, this is a versatile accompaniment to everyday food. (CW 21/02/14)
