Montepulciano is an almost perfect Tuscan hilltop town giving its name to that hill`s vineyards. Warmer than more fashionable Montalcino, which is all of 40 kilometers away, it also uses Sangiovese, which is fashioned into an earlier drinking, but still serious wine. Relatively a bargain and a great introduction to the wines of Tuscany. (CW 18/03/13)
