1991 Auchroisk, AD Rattray 23 yo 56.5%

“Auchroisk” means “shallow ford across the red stream”, which suggests that Gaelic is a more compact language than English. Nothing compact about the character of this Speyside malt, though, with an expansive bouquet of spice, herb and fruit, and a lovely, balanced mouthfeel. Perhaps this malt is better known under its older name of “The Singleton”. (NT 20/10/14)
