1990 Bowmore, AD Rattray 27 yo 50.6% Islay

A prodigious bottling of one of Islay`s finest, from what is probably Scotland`s oldest working distillery. Bowmore may be the ‘capital’ of Islay, but it is a hamlet with a distillery, between a peat moor, the sea and the River Laggan. In this bottling salty sea breezes mix with the earthy smell of peat and more unexpected fig and caramel aromas. Cask age has brought an astonishing finesse. Expensive, to be sure, but a true connoisseur`s malt. (NT 08/08/18)
