The 2021 Breton is the Cabernet Franc cuvée sourced from two farmers that Loggerenberg has worked with since the beginning in Polkedraai and Klein Welnoed, the former 100% whole bunch and the latter de-stemmed. Aged in used 500-litre oak barrels, like previous vintages, it expresses the variety succinctly, obtaining a Loire-like pepperiness (partly due to the stem addition). The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, a dash of white pepper and a touch of lavender, very long and tender with a surfeit of freshness from start to finish. Wonderful. 94 points
