The 2021 Le Petit Ducru mostly derives from 25 hectares in Saint-Julien purchased by Jean-Eugène Borie in 1972 and formerly known as Lalande-Borie. Exhibiting aromas of cherries, cassis and petals, it`s medium to full-bodied, ample and seamless, with a polished, charming profile and an impressively penetrating finish. 88-90 points

The 2021 Le Petit Ducru de Ducru Beaucaillou presents an opulent nose of blueberry and light cassis aromas, the oak (one-third here) nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied, linear and strict, saline in the mouth, and almost Pauillac-like, with plenty of freshness toward the finish. Apparently this cuvée is just beginning to open out. 88-90 points

The 2021 Le Petit Ducru de Ducru-Beaucaillou is a very pretty second wine. A burst of dark red cherry, blood orange, spice, cedar and new leather gives this Merlot-based Saint-Julien tons of sheer appeal. Plump and juicy, with terrific persistence, Le Petit Ducru is vibrant and full of character. The blend is unusual 80% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot. 90-92 points
