Neal Martin
There are just 4½ barrels of the 2012 Nuits Saint Georges Au Bas de Combe from 0.21-hectares of vine planted in 1985. It has a beautiful clean and pure bouquet with red cherries, fresh strawberry and mineral scents that expand with modest aeration. The oak is neatly interwoven here. The palate is medium-bodied with very taut and fine tannins, insistent grip with superb structure on the finish. Is this really just a village cru? Superb! 91-93 points
