2012 Font-Mars Picpoul de Pinet
Secondary Description
Is this the wine that could make Muscadet fashionable again? It`s a zesty, fresh wine from near Sete on the Languedoc coast - a little town worth visiting by the way and on a lagoon bristling with the seafood that this accompanies so well. Drink nicely chilled and preferably in the open air. Don`t wait for summer to return, it`s included in the bottle. (CW 15/08/13)

Picpoul or "lip stinger" as it translates, probably wasn`t the obvious choice when foreseeing the next fashionable grape variety. However it`s crisp refreshing character and great value have helped it become just that. An ideal aperitif or partner to seafood this is the perfect antidote to those who have had an overload of that other recent fashion, Sauvignon Blanc. (DW 19/08/13)
